The SV Sea Pearl is the oldest vessel in the Silhouette Cruises fleet. Built in 1915 in Vlaardingen, Netherlands, the vessel was originally a sailing-fishing vessel named Dirk. By 1930, the vessel was the last sailing vessel in the Dutch Herring fleet. After decades of fishing in the North Sea, the vessel was redesigned in 1991 into a schooner-rigged sailing ship, sailing the Caribbean Islands and Canada under the name Regina Chatarina.
In 1999, the vessel underwent a complete refit and was renamed Sea Pearl. That same year, the vessel was delivered to Seychelles to begin charter operations around the islands, becoming the second vessel in the Silhouette Cruises fleet.
With its rich history, the vessel offers a distinctive, true-to-Seychelles island experience. The Sea Pearl allows guests to explore the islands’ most exclusive and hard-to-reach locations, from tiny granite islets to hidden coves.
From November to April, weekly seven-night cruises depart every Saturday from Port Victoria, Mahé, venturing throughout much of the inner island archipelago. From May to October, a shorter six-night cruise is offered from Praslin Island. Both itineraries are ideal for individuals, couples, and small families seeking the benefits of a yacht experience without the expense of chartering an entire vessel.
For larger groups, private charters are available for up to 16 passengers—perfect for friends, families, or executives wishing to discover the islands in their own way. In addition, a variety of niche programs have been developed to suit special interests such as birdwatching, sport fishing, hiking, diving, and more, with cruises tailored to almost any specific activity.
