The Visayas are one of the three island groups in the Philippines, featuring incredible macro, stunning walls, whale sharks and thresher sharks.

Spend 7 magical nights diving at a different site each day, including the stunning walls of Cabilao, diving with whale sharks in Oslob, the healthy reefs of Sumilon Island, Malapascua’s Gato Island, its caverns are home of the protected sea crate and white tip sharks and a Malapascua favourite, Kimud Shoal, known for frequent sightings of thresher sharks. This itinerary is hard to beat if you want a wide variety of locations in a week. Easy cruises each evening will take you from one great dive site to another.

Day 1: Embarkation 5 pm
Board the Azores at the Atlantis Dumaguete resort, and enjoy a welcome evening and overnight travel to your first destination.

Day 2: Cabilao Island, Bohol
With its shallow topped reefs and nice drop-offs, the island offers an incredible number of critters in the shallows which are a delight to see. However, what really differentiates it from others nearby are the pristine hard corals around the southern coast. The reef offers species such as Scorpion fish, Tunas, Jackfish, Barracudas, Frogfish and Nudibranchs.

Day 3: Gato Island, Malapascua
One of the pearls of Malapascua and a perfect spot to see both macro and big fish, famous for the chance to spot whitetip and bamboo sharks along tunnels and resting under rocks. The soft coral gardens are home to pygmy seahorses, frogfish and an array of Nudibranch and away from the reef is great for squid and bait balls.

Day 4: Kimud Shoal, Capitancillo Islet
Kimud Shoal is a sunken island. The top lies around 12-16m and drops down to 200m+, located in the same trench as Monad Shoal, there is a chance to spot Thresher sharks, Mantas, Devil rays and Turtles. The top of the island is covered in hard coral with the sides covered in soft corals. The east side has some incredible rock formations and due to the drop off there is always the chance to see larger fish such as Tuna or Dolphins

Day 5: Balicasag Island
The island starts with a shallow plateau of 6-18m before dropping off to a wall. With hard and soft corals housing Moray eels, parrotfish, and clownfish, to name a few, keep an eye out for the schools of Jacks that swim along the walls

Day 6: Panglao Island and Optional Land Tour
Panglao Island – Look out for… turtles, whitetip and blacktip reef sharks, eagle & manta rays, schooling barracuda and trevally, frogfish, ghost pipefish, pygmy and thorny seahorses, plus many different species of nudibranch, among dramatic walls and reefs.
Land tour options: Chocolate Hills or Loboc River Tour. A visit to the Tarsiers – the world’s smallest primate on both tours.

Day 7: Oslob And Sumilon Island
You will spend the last day diving with Whale Sharks at Oslob. The rest of the day will be spent diving around tranquil Sumilon Island, surrounded by crystal clear waters and pristine white sandy beaches. Look out for… exquisite coral gardens and drop-offs. ‘Might sees’ in this area include manta rays and stingrays, barracudas, sea turtles and snakes and very occasionally whale sharks and hammerheads.

Day 8: Disembarkation 8 am

Its nutrient-rich waters and biodiversity make it one of the highlights of the route.

Day 5 – Kimud Shoal & Gato Island
The journey continues to Kimud Shoal, a sunken island with a reef top at 12–16 meters and a dramatic drop-off plunging to over 200 meters. This site is famed for encounters with thresher sharks, manta rays, and schooling pelagics such as tuna. In the afternoon, Gato Island offers a contrasting experience with rugged topography, coral-covered slopes, and swim-throughs home to whitetip reef sharks.

Day 6 – Malapascua Island
Diving at Malapascua Island offers an exciting mix of macro and megafauna. Guests may encounter resting bamboo and whitetip sharks inside underwater caverns, while the surrounding reefs host soft coral gardens brimming with nudibranchs, frogfish, and shrimp. Pelagic action is also possible, with bait balls and squid often seen in open water.

Day 7 – Capitancillo Islet
The final full day of diving takes place at Capitancillo Islet, a small coral island marked by a historical lighthouse. Divers explore vertical walls adorned with sea fans, whip corals, and sponges, and may spot yellowfin tuna, large groupers, and schooling jacks patrolling the deep.

Day 8 – Disembarkation in Dumaguete

Day 8 – Disembarkation in Dumaguete

Twenty four Japanese ships were sunk in Coron Bay on September 24, 1944 by the US Navy; you will have an opportunity to dive the best of these during our time there taking in both the unique history of the area and the amazing amount of fish and coral life that now cover the wrecks.

Day 3 – Cabilao Island (Bohol)
At Cabilao Island, the dive sites feature shallow reef tops and striking drop-offs. The southern coastline hosts hard coral gardens that attract tunas, jacks, frogfish, scorpionfish, and vibrant reef critters. This scenic location blends reef structure with exciting marine biodiversity.

Day 4 – Oslob & Sumilon Island
The day begins with a dive alongside the resident whale sharks of Oslob, followed by exploration of Sumilon Island’s coral gardens and walls. These dive sites offer a peaceful underwater landscape with frequent sightings of turtles, stingrays, sea snakes, and schooling barracudas—and on occasion, even manta rays or hammerhead sharks.

Day 5 – Siquijor Island
The voyage continues to Siquijor Island, where divers explore reef walls and gentle slopes. This area is particularly rewarding for macro enthusiasts, with regular appearances of nudibranchs, ribbon eels, frogfish, and an assortment of colourful tropical species.

Day 6 – Apo Island
Apo Island delivers some of the most vibrant coral diving in the region. Divers drift along reef walls teeming with hard and soft corals, with frequent encounters with sea turtles, blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, groupers, and swirls of reef fish. The island is also a hotspot for striking macro life.

Day 7 – Dauin (Dumaguete)
The final day of diving takes place along the Dauin coast, a world-renowned destination for muck diving. The region’s volcanic black sand hides rare and unusual species including flamboyant cuttlefish, blue-ringed octopus, hairy frogfish, and pipefish—perfect for underwater macro photography.

Day 8 – Disembarkation in Dumaguete
The itinerary concludes with an early morning return to Atlantis Dumaguete. Guests disembark at around 8:00 AM, with the option to extend their stay for additional land-based diving or a visit to nearby Apo Island.

Route Description - Visayas Safari

The Visayas are one of the three island groups in the Philippines, featuring incredible macro, stunning walls, whale sharks and thresher sharks.

Spend 7 magical nights diving at a different site each day, including the stunning walls of Cabilao, diving with whale sharks in Oslob, the healthy reefs of Sumilon Island, Malapascua’s Gato Island, its caverns are home of the protected sea crate and white tip sharks and a Malapascua favourite, Kimud Shoal, known for frequent sightings of thresher sharks. This itinerary is hard to beat if you want a wide variety of locations in a week. Easy cruises each evening will take you from one great dive site to another.

Day 1: Embarkation 5 pm
Board the Azores at the Atlantis Dumaguete resort, and enjoy a welcome evening and overnight travel to your first destination.

Day 2: Cabilao Island, Bohol
With its shallow topped reefs and nice drop-offs, the island offers an incredible number of critters in the shallows which are a delight to see. However, what really differentiates it from others nearby are the pristine hard corals around the southern coast. The reef offers species such as Scorpion fish, Tunas, Jackfish, Barracudas, Frogfish and Nudibranchs.

Day 3: Gato Island, Malapascua
One of the pearls of Malapascua and a perfect spot to see both macro and big fish, famous for the chance to spot whitetip and bamboo sharks along tunnels and resting under rocks. The soft coral gardens are home to pygmy seahorses, frogfish and an array of Nudibranch and away from the reef is great for squid and bait balls.

Day 4: Kimud Shoal, Capitancillo Islet
Kimud Shoal is a sunken island. The top lies around 12-16m and drops down to 200m+, located in the same trench as Monad Shoal, there is a chance to spot Thresher sharks, Mantas, Devil rays and Turtles. The top of the island is covered in hard coral with the sides covered in soft corals. The east side has some incredible rock formations and due to the drop off there is always the chance to see larger fish such as Tuna or Dolphins

Day 5: Balicasag Island
The island starts with a shallow plateau of 6-18m before dropping off to a wall. With hard and soft corals housing Moray eels, parrotfish, and clownfish, to name a few, keep an eye out for the schools of Jacks that swim along the walls

Day 6: Panglao Island and Optional Land Tour
Panglao Island – Look out for… turtles, whitetip and blacktip reef sharks, eagle & manta rays, schooling barracuda and trevally, frogfish, ghost pipefish, pygmy and thorny seahorses, plus many different species of nudibranch, among dramatic walls and reefs.
Land tour options: Chocolate Hills or Loboc River Tour. A visit to the Tarsiers – the world’s smallest primate on both tours.

Day 7: Oslob And Sumilon Island
You will spend the last day diving with Whale Sharks at Oslob. The rest of the day will be spent diving around tranquil Sumilon Island, surrounded by crystal clear waters and pristine white sandy beaches. Look out for… exquisite coral gardens and drop-offs. ‘Might sees’ in this area include manta rays and stingrays, barracudas, sea turtles and snakes and very occasionally whale sharks and hammerheads.

Day 8: Disembarkation 8 am
Disembark the Azores straight to the Atlantis Dumaguete resort.
