Route Description - Wild West Papua Route I - South Raja Ampat, Misool, The Bomberai Peninsula & Triton Bay

12 Days / 11 Nights

DAY 1: Sorong
Guests will arrive at the airport and be met by the arrivals team and taken by car to the harbor and then by tender to the ship. Guests will enjoy a cold towel and a refreshing welcome drink before being shown to allocated cabins. After that, the dive team will help guests unpack and store their dive equipment, assemble tanks, and deal with any requests or queries. After this, it’s time to relax before a safety briefing around 6 pm. At 7 pm guests will sit down to a traditional Indonesian “welcome” meal and enjoy refreshments. The boat will normally be underway to the next destination by 5 pm.

Please note: It is highly recommend arriving in the town of embarkation one day before the starting date of the cruise, and staying one night in a hotel. This precaution will provide flexibility in case of unexpected flight delays or cancellations, allowing for any potential flight changes.

DAY 2 -10
We offer 3-4 dives daily, including a night dive if possible. When crossing only 2 dives a day can be scheduled.

DAY 11
On the final day of diving with 1-2 scheduled dives - sail back to the harbor.

DAY 12: Kaimana
Guests depart in the morning – guests will be transferred to the airport by tender and then by cars and assisted at check-in by the Dewi Nusantara team.

The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24 hours before flying after the last dive.

Route Description - Triton Bay, The Bomberai Peninsula & The Eastern Forgotten Islands

Join Dewi Nusantara as she embarks on yet another voyage of discovery. This is a one-off exclusive cruise that starts from the West Papuan town of Kaimana in early March and finishes at Tual, the capital town of the Kei Islands. The scuba diving highlights along the route include Triton Bay, with the added attraction of the Namatote whale sharks. Moving northward along the West Papuan coastline, there are many spectacular offshore seamounts to discover before heading west to the remote outpost of Koon. Dewi will then head south and take in the wonderful dive sites and topside scenery of the Watubela and Kei Islands.

Triton Bay
At the beginning of this custom cruise, we explore the hidden gems of Triton Bay, Indonesia’s latest must-see destination. Triton Bay boasts abundant soft corals, literally light-blocking schools of fish, and a plethora of magnificent macrolife. In addition to these wonders, Triton Bay is home to one of the most spectacular whale shark experiences anywhere on the planet.

The Bomberai Peninsula
After leaving Triton Bay, Dewi heads north-west to visit the spectacular destinations of the Bomberai Peninsula, where a wealth of brand new marine adventures await. Offshore, there are numerous newly discovered seamounts literally buzzing with marine life. Closer to the peninsula’s dramatic coastline, there is plenty more to see, along with some very intriguing surprises.

The Eastern Forgotten Islands
After sampling Koon’s marine adventures on the south-east corner of Ceram, Dewi turns south to explore the Eastern Forgotten Islands. This stunning archipelago features some wonderful dive sites where the resident marine life has rarely seen scuba divers. These islands also offer idyllic topside scenery to go along with their underwater treasures.

The Kei Islands

12 Days / 11 Nights

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Embarkation – Ambon

Guests are greeted upon arrival at Ambon Airport and transferred by car to the harbor, then by tender to the vessel. A cold towel and welcome drink are served upon boarding, followed by cabin check-in. The dive team will assist with equipment setup and any special requests. Guests can relax onboard before attending a safety briefing at 6:00 PM. At 7:00 PM, a traditional Indonesian welcome dinner is served. The vessel typically departs for the next destination by 5:00 PM.

Note: It is highly recommended to arrive in Ambon one day prior to embarkation and stay overnight. This allows flexibility in case of any flight delays or cancellations.

Days 2–10: Diving Days

Enjoy 3–4 dives per day, including night dives when possible. On days when the vessel is relocating, only 2 dives may be scheduled. Dive sites will be chosen based on optimal conditions and guest preferences.

Day 11: Final Diving Day

Guests will enjoy 1–2 morning dives before the vessel begins its return to the harbor. This is the final day of diving.

Day 12: Disembarkation – Sorong

After a final breakfast onboard, guests are transferred to Sorong Airport by tender and car. Dewi Nusantara staff will assist with airport check-in and onward travel arrangements.

Important: The last dive takes place on the penultimate day of the trip. A minimum 24-hour surface interval is recommended before flying.

The Birdshead Peninsula & Cenderawasih Bay
Located along the northern coastline of West Papua, Cenderawasih Bay, Indonesia’s largest marine national park, makes up part of what is known as the Bird’s Head Seascape. Relatively new to the Southeast Asian scuba diving community, Cenderawasih Bay is one of the latest additions to the Indonesian archipelago’s already outstanding portfolio of cruise itineraries.

The remote islands and strikingly colourful coral reef systems scattered inside the bay are astonishing areas to explore. Rising from the deep blue sea, the crystal-clear waters and sparkling reefs teem with marine life. The picture-perfect beaches that surround many of the tiny tropical islands appear to have been man-made for some grand advertising campaign, creating unbelievable locations for a wide range of watersports and other exciting activities.

The bay harbours a natural beauty, becoming a south-Pacific paradise. The surrounding Papuan mainland and islands are home to a host of rare creatures. Some of them are endemic to the region, such as forest wallabies, possums, and bandicoots, as well as the sleepy and secretive cuscus, which inhabit the lowlands, gorges, and hilly forests. The list of native species is not limited to land-based animals; the bay is also home to numerous indiginous marine species. It features many creatures not found at other destinations, making it a unique and unusual cruising ground for adventurous scuba diving exploration and budding marine biologists.

The main attraction, however, and the stars of a Cenderawasih Bay expedition, are the awe-inspiring, up-close-and-personal whaleshark encounters deep inside the bay at Kwatisore. Snorkelling with these impressive creatures in the wild is a humbling experience, and Cenderawasih Bay features an excursion second to none. At night, the local fishermen sling nets underneath their tethered fishing platforms to catch baitfish. This activity has attracted the attention of the local whaleshark population. These gigantic fish like to gather below the nets to suck up a free meal. Numerous whalesharks are often observed during a single excursion, creating a truly spectacular experience for snorkellers and divers alike.

Route Description - South Raja Ampat, Misool, The Bomberai Peninsula & Central Raja Ampat

This intriguing new cruise route takes Dewi Nusantara from Sorong, the principal departure port for the Raja Ampat islands, all the way down south to explore the seldom dived sites of the Bomberai Peninsula. Along the way, we will be able to explore some of the very best scuba diving regions that eastern Indonesia has to offer.

Misool
Our first port of call is Misool, the most southerly of the famed Raja Ampat islands. As many of our guests already know, Misool is overflowing with some of the world’s most iconic and well-known dive sites.

The Bomberai Peninsula
Sailing further south, we come to the sprawling Bomberai Peninsula, where a wealth of brand new marine adventures await. Offshore, there are numerous newly discovered seamounts literally buzzing with marine life. Closer to the peninsula’s dramatic coastline, there is plenty more to see, along with some very intriguing surprises.

The Pisang Islands
The Pisang Island group is now much more than just a waypoint between Raja Ampat and Triton Bay. Dewi Nusantara’s personnel have had the fortunate opportunity to extensively explore the area’s scuba diving potential and discover a whole host of exciting new sites.

The Sagewin Strait, South-West Batanta
And now for something completely different. The critter diving sites on the south side of Batanta Island, facing the Sagewin Strait, are fast gaining mythical status. The sand and gravel slopes are the perfect habitat for the weird and wonderful small creatures that make Indonesian scuba diving so special.

Route Description - South Raja Ampat, Misool, The Bomberai Peninsula & Central Raja Ampat

This intriguing new cruise route takes Dewi Nusantara from Sorong, the principal departure port for the Raja Ampat islands, all the way down south to explore the seldom dived sites of the Bomberai Peninsula. Along the way, we will be able to explore some of the very best scuba diving regions that eastern Indonesia has to offer.

Misool
Our first port of call is Misool, the most southerly of the famed Raja Ampat islands. As many of our guests already know, Misool is overflowing with some of the world’s most iconic and well-known dive sites.

The Bomberai Peninsula
Sailing further south, we come to the sprawling Bomberai Peninsula, where a wealth of brand new marine adventures await. Offshore, there are numerous newly discovered seamounts literally buzzing with marine life. Closer to the peninsula’s dramatic coastline, there is plenty more to see, along with some very intriguing surprises.

The Pisang Islands
The Pisang Island group is now much more than just a waypoint between Raja Ampat and Triton Bay. Dewi Nusantara’s personnel have had the fortunate opportunity to extensively explore the area’s scuba diving potential and discover a whole host of exciting new sites.

The Sagewin Strait, South-West Batanta
And now for something completely different. The critter diving sites on the south side of Batanta Island, facing the Sagewin Strait, are fast gaining mythical status. The sand and gravel slopes are the perfect habitat for the weird and wonderful small creatures that make Indonesian scuba diving so special.

Scuba diving around Yangello is very popular with visiting divers. The coral-covered ridges, reefs, and seamounts around the island create a number of excellent and exciting dive sites. One of the most popular seamounts to dive at Yangello is called Mayhem, close to the west side of the island. This is a current-washed, shallow coral reef for experienced divers seeking a little more adventure. Another submerged reef formation, Batu Dalam, is just south-west of Mayhem. Its shallowest depth is 10 metres, and it could prove to be interesting with some exploration and effort.

Wofoh
Despite the fact that the Wofoh Islands have a limited number of dive sites, they remain a popular destination for visiting yachts. With easy anchorages, pristine reefs, and sublime beaches, it is not difficult to see why. The sites at Wofoh are concentrated around the southern tip of the islands; both are excellent and can be combined into a single dive if needed.

Aljui Bay
Diving at Aljui is quite different from other locations in Raja Ampat; it is geared much more towards smaller critters than huge schools of fish and vast coral fields. The edges of the islands in the bay drop very steeply along sloping reefs and walls. Different species of pygmy seahorses make their lifelong homes on the large fan corals that sprout from the steep reefs. In addition, nudibranchs of all types are easy to find around the slopes, ledges, and reefs.

Penemu
Lying just under 15 nautical miles west of Arborek Island, the Penemu Group is a big favourite with visiting yachts. With numerous exciting land and watersports activities, this island collection has a lot to offer.

The large island of Daram marks the easternmost boundary of the Misool region. The vast majority of the dive sites are not located around the island itself, but rather a short distance to the north-west. They are undoubtedly some of the most astonishing and colourful in the entire area.

Wayil
The Wayil dive sites are mostly clustered around the western end of Wayilbatan Island. Comprising multi-peaked seamounts, karst island ridges, and exciting passages, they all feature abundant coral growth and a wealth of both pelagic and reefdwelling marine life.

Jef Pele, Lili & Kepotsol
The large island of Jef Pele, as well as the nearby Lili and Kepotsol groups, do not suffer from the concentration of divers and yachts that now visit the anchorages and marine attractions further east. However, they do feature some excellent diving opportunities.

The dive sites in and around Fiabacet and Boo are quite honestly some of the very finest that Raja Ampat, Indonesia, or even the planet has to offer. The south side’s deep ocean floor rises to a marine topography that features a labyrinth of interconnected ridges and seamounts. These act as filters for the nutrient-rich currents flowing up and over the complex seascape, causing the vibrant reefs to explode in a riot of colour and form.

Day 1: Arrival & Check-In

Guests arrive in Ternate, where they are met and transferred to the liveaboard vessel. A welcome drink is served upon arrival, followed by a comprehensive safety briefing and dive gear setup. Loloda Region

Pantinti Strait

Day 11: Check-Out

After breakfast, guests disembark in Ternate. Transfers to the airport or hotel are arranged by the crew.

Route Description - All of Raja Ampat - Biodiversity Hotspot

Raja Ampat casts a spell on all who visit: scuba divers, scientists, photographers, and crusty sea salts alike. This group of majestic islands, located on the northwestern tip of Indonesia’s Papuan “Bird’s Head Seascape,” lies in the heart of the Coral Triangle, the most bio-diverse marine region on earth. There are some areas where soft corals and sea fans dominate, others with amazing, diverse hard corals, seagrass beds, mangroves, shallow reefs, drop-offs, caves, black sand, and white sand. Then there is the marine life – lots of it, in more shapes and sizes than anywhere else in the world. Raja Ampat’s reefs, from pygmy seahorses to top predators, are teeming with life.

Mioskon & Kri
Mioskon and Kri are just two of many islands offshore from the Gam and Waigeo shorelines in the Dampier Strait. The seascape around these islands features some of the most spectacular scuba diving anywhere on the planet. Magnificent coral gardens, thrilling seamounts, big fish encounters, and amazing critter activity are the order of the day here in this marine paradise.

Yangello
Scuba diving around Yangello is very popular with visiting divers. The coral-covered ridges, reefs, and seamounts around the island create a number of excellent and exciting dive sites. One of the most popular seamounts to dive at Yangello is called Mayhem, close to the west side of the island. This is a current-washed, shallow coral reef for experienced divers seeking a little more adventure. Another submerged reef formation, Batu Dalam, is just south-west of Mayhem. Its shallowest depth is 10 metres, and it could prove to be interesting with some exploration and effort.

Wofoh
Despite the fact that the Wofoh Islands have a limited number of dive sites, they remain a popular destination for visiting yachts. With easy anchorages, pristine reefs, and sublime beaches, it is not difficult to see why. The sites at Wofoh are concentrated around the southern tip of the islands; both are excellent and can be combined into a single dive if needed.

Aljui Bay
Diving at Aljui is quite different from other locations in Raja Ampat; it is geared much more towards smaller critters than huge schools of fish and vast coral fields. The edges of the islands in the bay drop very steeply along sloping reefs and walls. Different species of pygmy seahorses make their lifelong homes on the large fan corals that sprout from the steep reefs. In addition, nudibranchs of all types are easy to find around the slopes, ledges, and reefs.

Penemu
Lying just under 15 nautical miles west of Arborek Island, the Penemu Group is a big favourite with visiting yachts. With numerous exciting land and watersports activities, this island collection has a lot to offer.

Daram
The large island of Daram marks the easternmost boundary of the Misool region. The vast majority of the dive sites are not located around the island itself, but rather a short distance to the north-west. They are undoubtedly some of the most astonishing and colourful in the entire area.

Wayil
The Wayil dive sites are mostly clustered around the western end of Wayilbatan Island. Comprising multi-peaked seamounts, karst island ridges, and exciting passages, they all feature abundant coral growth and a wealth of both pelagic and reefdwelling marine life.

Jef Pele, Lili & Kepotsol
The large island of Jef Pele, as well as the nearby Lili and Kepotsol groups, do not suffer from the concentration of divers and yachts that now visit the anchorages and marine attractions further east. However, they do feature some excellent diving opportunities.

Fiabacet & Boo
The dive sites in and around Fiabacet and Boo are quite honestly some of the very finest that Raja Ampat, Indonesia, or even the planet has to offer. The south side’s deep ocean floor rises to a marine topography that features a labyrinth of interconnected ridges and seamounts. These act as filters for the nutrient-rich currents flowing up and over the complex seascape, causing the vibrant reefs to explode in a riot of colour and form.

The Sagewin Strait, Batanta
The southern side of Batanta does not have the picture-perfect panoramas that are normally associated with Raja Ampat, but it does have some of the finest dive sites in the region for searching out weird and wonderful critters. Most underwater exploration of this area has concentrated along the southern shores of Batanta Island at its south-western end rather than further up the strait or along the coastline of Salawati on the other side. However, from time to time, discoveries of both new dive sites and rare and elusive marine creatures are often made.

Route Description - Wild West Papua Route I - South Raja Ampat, Misool, The Bomberai Peninsula & Triton Bay

12 Days / 11 Nights

DAY 1: Sorong
Guests will arrive at the airport and be met by the arrivals team and taken by car to the harbor and then by tender to the ship. Guests will enjoy a cold towel and a refreshing welcome drink before being shown to allocated cabins. After that, the dive team will help guests unpack and store their dive equipment, assemble tanks, and deal with any requests or queries. After this, it’s time to relax before a safety briefing around 6 pm. At 7 pm guests will sit down to a traditional Indonesian “welcome” meal and enjoy refreshments. The boat will normally be underway to the next destination by 5 pm.

Please note: It is highly recommend arriving in the town of embarkation one day before the starting date of the cruise, and staying one night in a hotel. This precaution will provide flexibility in case of unexpected flight delays or cancellations, allowing for any potential flight changes.

DAY 2 -10
We offer 3-4 dives daily, including a night dive if possible. When crossing only 2 dives a day can be scheduled.

DAY 11
On the final day of diving with 1-2 scheduled dives - sail back to the harbor.

DAY 12: Kaimana
Guests depart in the morning – guests will be transferred to the airport by tender and then by cars and assisted at check-in by the Dewi Nusantara team.

The last dive will be on the penultimate day of the trip. Divers are recommended to wait for 24 hours before flying after the last dive.
