Komodo National Park, once marked on ancient maps as the realm of mythical dragons, remains a pristine sanctuary of biodiversity both above and below the Flores Sea. Established in 1980 to protect the Komodo dragons and other rare wildlife, it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991 and was named one of the “World’s Top Ten Destinations” by National Geographic in 2017. For guests aboard the Seven Seas, Komodo offers a premier cruising and diving destination, encompassing the main islands of Komodo, Rinca, and Padar, along with many smaller islets.
East of Flores, the remote islands of Adonara, Solor, Lembata, Pantar, and Alor remain among Indonesia’s least explored, offering world-class dive sites and untouched natural beauty far from the crowds.
