Route Description - Daedalus, Zabargad & Rocky Island
8 Days 7 Nights
Daedalus Reef
Located south of the Brothers Islands, Daedalus Reef stands out for its pristine hard coral gardens and the well-known site called Anemone City. While its coral beauty is impressive, Daedalus is most famous for its frequent sightings of schooling hammerhead sharks, which consistently deliver thrilling dives for those exploring its deep blue waters.
Zabargad Island
Zabargad Island, measuring approximately 3.5 kilometers in length, offers a variety of intriguing dive sites. Among its highlights is a 70-meter-long unnamed wreck lying on a sandy seabed at depths between 1 and 24 meters—its mast even visible above the surface during low tide. Divers can explore its bridge and engine room. The island’s west side features a lush hard coral garden, while the colorful plateau to the south adds even more diversity to the underwater scenery.
Rocky Island
A small, remote island near Zabargad, Rocky Island is famed for its dramatic fringing reef that plunges steeply into the depths. The reef is densely populated with marine life and adorned with gorgonians, soft corals, and fan corals. Lucky divers may encounter larger marine species here, such as grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, and even dolphins, making it a favorite for those seeking action-packed, pelagic encounters.
Elphinstone Reef (optional visit at the end of the trip)
Often included as a final highlight, Elphinstone Reef is celebrated for its two plateaus located at the northern and southern ends. These areas provide excellent opportunities to spot hammerhead sharks, and the ever-curious oceanic whitetip shark (Longimanus) is also frequently seen. Vibrant coral formations, along with sightings of napoleon wrasses and sea turtles, make Elphinstone a spectacular and memorable way to conclude a Red Sea diving adventure.
