Route Description - Derawan Islands

The Derawan Islands 7 Night itinerary explores one of Indonesia’s most biodiverse marine regions, set within the heart of the Coral Triangle in the Celebes Sea. Discover the remote islands of Derawan, Maratua, Kakaban and Sangalaki, where vibrant coral reefs, sandy atolls and rich marine life create exceptional diving opportunities. Look out for sea turtles, manta rays, reef fish and fascinating macro life while exploring this remarkable archipelago off the eastern coast of Borneo.

Kakaban
Kakaban is known for the non-stinging jelly fish lake, located in the middle of the island and a brisk 15 minute walk. The non-stinging jellyfish have inhabited the lake for centuries as there are no known predators. The outer ring of Kakaban island offers divers a wide variety of dive sites that includes corals, large pelagic and thrilling caves.

The most famous area is Barracuda Point which has schooling barracuda which are visited by large tuna and sharks.

Sangalaki
This area is famous for the large population of turtles and manta rays year round and guests will frequently see them feeding. The island has a turtle nursery run by the local government which can be visited. Whale sharks are frequently seen off the coast of the island.

Maratua Atoll
The Raja Ampat Aggressors favorite dives are "The Channel" and "Big Fish Country" which has tornadoes of barracuda, grey reef sharks, thresher sharks, loads of turtles and schooling eagle rays schooling. Maratua Island has at least 13 caves with hundreds more that have yet to be explored.

Pulau Panjang & Pulau Derawan
This is an area known for amazing macro life such as satomi pigmys, sea dragons, ghost pipefish, frogfish, blue ring octopus, harlequin shrimp and tiger shrimp. This is a macro haven with the weird and wonderful.

Talisayan
A large population of whale sharks can be found here during the diving season. Similar to Cenderawasih Bay, the whale sharks can be found swimming under the fishing platforms of the local fishermen.

Your reservation request is obligation free and you can cancel anytime within the first 72 hours. During this time, you can easily find matching flights and get answers from our reservations team to any further questions you may have.

After you have confirmed and paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy applies:

Individuals: If a cancellation is made:
91 days or more prior to departure, 20% is forfeited.
90 days or less prior to departure, 100% is forfeited.
Groups (half yacht or more): If an entire charter is cancelled:
More than nine (9) months prior to departure, the $1,500 deposit is forfeited.
Nine (9) months to 181 days prior to departure, the $5,000 deposit is forfeited.
180 - 91 days prior to departure, 40% of the group charter rate is forfeited.
90 days or less prior to departure, 100% of the charter rate is forfeited and no refund is available.

Groups (half yacht or more): If the number of passengers is reduced from the original group reservation:
More than nine (9) months prior to departure, the reservation may be reduced down to one paying passenger which will result in loss of complimentary space(s).
Nine (9) months to 181 days prior to departure, 20% of the charter rate per passenger cancelled is forfeited, and there is a reduction/loss of free space(s).
180 - 91 days prior to departure, 40% of the charter rate per passenger cancelled is forfeited and there is a reduction/loss of free space(s).
90 days or less prior to departure, 100% of the charter rate per person is forfeited and there is a reduction/loss of free space(s).
