Route Description - Cocos Island - 11 Nights
Experience an unforgettable 11-night liveaboard to Cocos Island, one of the world’s premier diving destinations. Spend seven thrilling days exploring its vibrant underwater world, home to 12 shark species, 4 types of rays, 4 sea turtle species, and 16 marine mammals. Encounter schools of hammerheads and jacks, tiger and Galapagos sharks, marble rays, frogfish, octopuses, and the island’s 27 endemic fish species, including the rare Cocos rosy-lipped batfish. A true diver’s paradise filled with breathtaking encounters and natural wonders.
Arrival Day
Guests are advised to arrive at least one day before the boat departure. Upon arrival in San José, transportation can be prearranged or taxis and minivans are available at the airport. Hotel recommendations and bookings in San José can also be arranged, though pick-up is available only from select hotels. The evening before departure, an Undersea Hunter representative will confirm the pick-up time via fax. Air transport, transfers, hotel stays, and meals before and after the trip are not included.
Day 1
Between 8 AM and 1 PM, guests are picked up from designated hotels and transferred by bus to Puntarenas for boarding. The 2.5-hour drive passes through scenic forests and farmland. Depending on the tide, guests may transfer by skiff to the vessel. Once aboard, the boat begins its 32–36-hour cruise to Cocos Island.
Day 2
A day spent traveling at sea, giving guests time to set up dive and camera gear, relax, and enjoy the Pacific views. Dive briefings, videos, and optional courses are also available.
Days 3–9
Seven full days are spent diving the pinnacles surrounding Cocos Island, with an average of three dives daily at depths of 60–100 feet (18–30 meters).
Day 10
Guests make their final three dives before beginning the return journey to Costa Rica.
Day 11
A relaxing day at sea to unwind and share stories from the trip.
Day 12
Arrival in Puntarenas. After breakfast, guests are transferred back to San José. It is recommended to stay an extra night before flying out to allow for any possible delays.
