Discover Komodo: A Diver’s Paradise
Best known as the home of the Komodo dragon, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is equally stunning beneath the surface. Surrounded by dramatic, uninhabited islands, Komodo National Park offers some of the richest marine biodiversity in the world.
Divers can explore two distinct regions: North Komodo, with its warm, clear tropical waters, and South Komodo, where cooler, nutrient-rich currents attract an explosion of marine life. While visibility in the south may be lower due to plankton, the rewards are immense—manta rays, reef sharks, turtles, and countless macro species thrive here.
The park’s underwater landscape features drop-offs, pinnacles, fringing reefs, and vibrant coral gardens, making it a dream for wide-angle and macro photographers alike.
Getting There:
The easiest way to reach Komodo is by direct flight from Bali to Labuan Bajo. Travelers from Jakarta usually connect via Bali. For budget-conscious travelers, public Pelni ferries also operate from Bali to Labuan Bajo, offering a slower but more affordable option.
