Route Description - Banda Sea (Forgotten Islands)
12 Nights 11 Days
Diving in the Banda Sea offers some of Indonesia’s most unique underwater experiences. Once the sought-after Spice Islands, the Banda Islands have a rich history and are now known for their pristine reefs, steep drop-offs, and large pelagic fish. Divers can encounter schools of jacks, large tuna, Napoleon wrasse, rays, sharks, turtles, and sea snakes, as well as fascinating critter sites around Ambon Bay for macro enthusiasts.
The crossing also offers the chance to observe seabirds, such as frigate birds and boobies. On land, guests can explore historical sites like Banda Neira, the local museum, and the old fort, while learning about the island’s colonial past. A visit to a nutmeg and spice farm offers a taste of local flavors, including Tante’s homemade cinnamon tea and nutmeg jam.
