Route Description - Falkland Islands - South Georgia - Antarctica
Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Antarctic Peninsula cruise is an animal-lover’s dream come true. The expedition explores one of the last untamed areas on Earth – a land of ruggedly beautiful landscapes and amazingly varied wildlife.
Day 1 – Embarkation (Ushuaia)
Board the vessel in Ushuaia and sail through the Beagle Channel, beginning your journey to the Southern Ocean.
Day 2 – At Sea
Cruise through the westerlies with opportunities to spot albatross, petrels and other seabirds.
Day 3–4 – Falkland Islands
Explore wildlife-rich islands such as Carcass and Saunders, home to penguins and seabirds. Visit Port Stanley, the capital, for cultural insights and local history.
Day 5–6 – At Sea (Antarctic Convergence)
Cross the Antarctic Convergence, where nutrient-rich waters attract abundant marine life and seabirds.
Day 7–10 – South Georgia
Discover one of the world’s greatest wildlife destinations. Visit sites like Fortuna Bay, Salisbury Plain and Gold Harbour, home to vast king penguin colonies and seals. Explore Grytviken, Shackleton’s historic whaling station.
Day 11 – At Sea
Sail south towards the South Orkney Islands, with chances to see ice and seabirds.
Day 12 – South Orkney Islands
Visit remote islands with Adélie penguin colonies, seals and dramatic Antarctic landscapes.
Day 13–14 – Southern Ocean
Continue south past icebergs with possible whale sightings, including fin whales.
Day 15–16 – Antarctic Peninsula
Explore the Antarctic region (Weddell Sea or Antarctic Sound depending on conditions). Possible landings at Paulet Island or Brown Bluff, with penguins, seals and towering ice formations.
Day 17–18 – Drake Passage
Return north across the Drake Passage, accompanied by seabirds.
Day 19 – Disembarkation (Ushuaia)
Arrive back in Ushuaia and disembark after breakfast.
