Route Description - Antarctica - Basecamp
The Antarctic Peninsula Basecamp cruise offers a myriad of ways to explore and enjoy the Antarctic Region. This expedition allows divers to hike, snowshoe, kayak, go mountaineering, and even camp out under the Southern Polar skies.
Day 1 – Embarkation (Ushuaia)
Departure from Ushuaia and sail through the Beagle Channel, beginning your journey to Antarctica.
Day 2–3 – Drake Passage
Cross the Drake Passage, experiencing polar seas and abundant seabirds such as albatrosses, petrels and storm petrels as you approach Antarctic waters.
Day 4–10 – Antarctic Peninsula
Explore the Antarctic Peninsula with Zodiac cruises, landings and optional adventure activities (weather permitting). Visit iconic sites such as Neumayer Channel, Port Lockroy, Lemaire Channel, Pléneau & Petermann Islands, Neko Harbour, Paradise Bay and the Errera Channel. Encounter penguin colonies, seals, whales and dramatic ice landscapes, with opportunities for kayaking, snowshoeing and camping.
Day 11–12 – Drake Passage
Return north across the Drake Passage, accompanied once again by vast seabird populations.
Day 13 – Disembarkation (Ushuaia)
Arrive back in Ushuaia and disembark after breakfast.
