Route Description - 10 days Best of the Red Sea: Daedalus-Rocky Island-Zabargad-St. Johns-Elphinstone
From the dramatic walls of Daedalus Reef to the legendary dives of Rocky Island, this southern Red Sea route offers thrilling encounters with hammerheads, reef sharks and vibrant schools of fish. Explore Zabargad’s colourful coral gardens, the untouched reefs and caves of St. Johns, and finish at the iconic Elphinstone Reef, famous for its plateaus, rich corals and pelagic sightings.
Daedalus Reef
A remote offshore reef surrounded by steep walls and a southern plateau descending from 30–40 metres. Known for turtles, large schools of fish, reef sharks and seasonal hammerhead sightings. The west side features the famous Anemone City, home to dense anemone fields and abundant marine life.
Elphinstone
A narrow reef running north to south with dramatic drop-offs on both sides and submerged plateaus at each end. Famous for strong currents, vibrant corals and frequent shark encounters.
St John’s
Egypt’s southernmost reef system near the Sudanese border, offering dozens of dive sites rising from a vast underwater plateau. Known for pristine reefs, clear water and excellent biodiversity.
Zabargad
A historic island once mined for olivine, featuring scenic southern wall dives with striking swim-throughs and coral formations.
Rocky Island
A remote site with submerged rocks, sandy patches and swim-throughs around 20 metres. Often home to resting leopard and whitetip reef sharks, turtles and pelagic species. Strong currents make this site best suited for advanced divers.
