Embark on one-way expedition travels to or from the northernmost reaches of the Maldives, approximately 180 miles north of Malé, where the pristine reefs of Shaviyani and Haa Alifu Atolls await. Exploring these lesser-dived waters promises exhilarating encounters as hidden reefs and thilas reveal their beauty. The crew’s deep familiarity with the region ensures guests experience some of the finest shark and manta points the Maldives has to offer. In this remote area, far from the crowds, divers find themselves immersed in serenity, sharing the underwater world with little more than their dive buddy.

The Far Northern Atolls are among the oldest in the Maldives, dating back approximately 65 million years and bearing testament to the archipelago’s ancient origins. Beyond them stretches the vast Eight Degree Channel, separating the continental shelves of India and Sri Lanka from the northern tip of the Maldives. During the calm northeast season, from March to April, the journey extends into these deep ocean waters, offering rare opportunities to encounter the majestic blue and sperm whales in their natural habitat.

This itinerary includes a 50-minute one-way flight, either from Malé to Hanimaadhoo or Hanimaadhoo to Malé. Whether traveling northbound or southbound aboard the Spirit of Maldives, the Far North expedition embodies the essence of adventure—an unforgettable journey off the beaten path.
