Route Description - Komodo & The Whale Sharks of Sumbawa (Bali - Maumere)

Embark from Bali and sail across Moyo Island, Teluk Saleh, and the volcanic reefs of Sangeang and Banta. Explore South and Central Komodo National Park, spotting manta rays, Komodo dragons, and vibrant coral reefs. Continue north to Gili Lawa and Tatawa before diving the dramatic walls of Palue. Conclude the journey with disembarkation in Maumere.

Day 1 – Bali
Guests board Adelaar in Serangan Harbor, Bali, and set sail along the coast, catching views of Mount Agung at sunset before crossing overnight to Moyo Island.

Day 2 – Moyo Island
Diving begins on Moyo’s seamounts with clear waters and abundant fish. A village visit and short trek to a waterfall are optional. (2–3 dives)

Day 3 – Teluk Saleh
In Teluk Saleh Bay, guests have the chance to encounter whale sharks, guided by local villagers who monitor recent sightings.

Day 4 – Sangeang & Banta
Dives reveal the black sand slopes of volcanic Sangeang and the rich coral reefs of Banta, home to turtles, sharks, and rays. (3 day dives, 1 night dive)

Day 5 – South Komodo National Park
Diving focuses on manta rays at Manta Alley, with night dives offering the chance to spot torpedo rays. (3 day dives, 1 night dive)

Day 6 – South Rinca
Unique reefs and fascinating critters make South Rinca a haven for macro photographers. (3 day dives, 1 night dive)

Day 7 – Central Komodo National Park
Guests trek Rinca Island to see Komodo dragons, followed by vibrant reef dives teeming with fish. (2 day dives, 1 night dive)

Day 8 – Gili Lawa
Drift dives around Gili Lawa showcase spectacular marine life. A sunset trek rewards guests with panoramic park views. (3 day dives, 1 night dive)

Day 9 – Tatawa
Colorful coral gardens thrive in Tatawa’s current-swept reefs, marking the final dives in Komodo. (3 day dives)

Day 10 – Palue
The volcanic island of Palue offers dramatic walls covered in soft corals, with chances to spot pygmy seahorses and rare nudibranchs. (2 day dives)

Day 11 – Maumere
After breakfast, guests disembark in Maumere, concluding the journey.

Booking Conditions / Additional Costs / Marine Park Fees

Cancellations for Individual and Group Bookings: All cancellations must be made by fax or e-mail. The date that ADELAAR receives the cancellation of the booking by e-mail or fax is the date used to determine the cancellation penalty.

Cancellation penalties for individual bookings:
More than 90 Days - Loss of deposit. Less than 90 Days - Loss of full payment Less than 60 days prior to departure: 100% of the individual cruise price.

Cancellation penalties for group bookings:
More than 91 days prior to departure: forfeit of deposit.
Less than 90 days prior to departure: 100% of the group charter price.
Once an add-in Diving Komodo Itinerary becomes fully booked and closed for further bookings, no refunds will be given for cancellations. This information will be posted on our webpage schedule, as fully booked. Individual guests are responsible for checking the website prior to any cancellation.
A passenger who has booked into a scheduled Bali to Komodo trip, and who wishes to cancel, has the option to substitute another person (not already scheduled on the trip) into his space to avoid the cancellation penalty. Passenger substitution will be allowed up to three days prior to departure.
ADELAAR will not refund any money to passengers who fail to show for boarding on the trip departure date, whether this is due to missed airline connections or from the lack of proper paperwork required to enter the country, or any other reason. If an airline connection is missed, ADELAAR will make all efforts to arrange that the passenger can join the ADELAAR at some point in the itinerary. However, the cost to do so (airfare, small boat transport to ADELAAR, or any other cost involved) is solely the responsibility of the client.
If the customer interrupts or cuts short a trip for any reason, ADELAAR is not liable to refund any money to the customer. In cases of emergency such as personal illness or accident, ADELAAR will assist in all necessary arrangements for the passenger’s return travel. However, the cost of this is to be borne solely by the passenger.
For these reasons we strongly recommend the purchase of trip interruption insurance and/or trip cancellation insurance.
